The First Genetically Altered Babies By John Roberts, May 6, 2001 What is the significance and relevance of this story to last days prophecy? Our generation is seeing more change than any other generation that has lived on the face of the earth. Who knows what is waiting for us around the corner?When you grow up with technologies like the typewriter, Slide Rule, LPs, and Eight Track the present technology seams like magic. These are exciting times. The Bible says knowledge will increase in the last days so I am not surprised by anything I hear today. But history has taught us that all knowledge can be used for good and evil. I believe the area of human genetics is one field that should be approached cautiously. I am all for using advancements in science to repair mutated genes that cause disease. But creating babies with the genes of three parents may be going too far. Just because something is possible doesn't mean it is a good idea. Scientists have already genetically altered over half of the food we eat. Now they are altering human genes. Soon we will have genetically altered animals and insects. I don't think anyone really knows the impact of all this will have upon our bodies and the ecosystem. Satan is quick to move in and mess up everything that is good. I am sure the Antichrist and False Prophet will find a way to use these advancements in genetics to get at God's creation.
