What is the significance and relevance of this story to last days prophecy?

I am sorry to say but I think the United States is slowly losing its position as a superpower.

When the oil exporting countries decide to cut back on oil production it has an exponential impact on everything from the price of heating oil to the stock market.

When the Japanese decide to stop investing in land our sales and prices slow down and then drop through the floor.

Software development is moving offshore to places like India faster than US companies can hire developers.

Turn over one of your kids toys and I bit it says "Made in China."

"Made in America" means what "Made in Japan" use to mean. Would you trust your child's life to a set of Firestone tires? "Quality is job #1," right! I would buy a Japanese product any day. They do quality we just use the word a lot in marketing.

Thanks to NBC the United States was the only country on earth where the Olympic Games were not carried live on TV. It was virtually impossible to get through the day without hearing the result of an event you wouldn't be watching until fourteen hours after the fact.

But the US still holds an advantage over most countries in military technology. At least we did. Who knows what secrets have been stolen?

Investigators said the local library has a more sophisticated tracking system for Winnie the Pooh than Los Alamos has for highly classified nuclear weapons data.

It is hard to stay on the top when you show such a disregard for the security and safe keeping of your national secrets.

I believe the United States is going to continue to weaken in all areas as the kingdom of the Antichrist emerges as the superpower.

This will finally culminate in a country so weak that we will only be able to sit back and bark at Russia when they come down to attack Israel.

Ezekiel 38:13-16

13   "Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, 'Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?'"'
14   "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it?
15   "Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army.
16   "You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes."

Tarshish was a great seafaring nation in ancient times that carried tin and goods from Brittany to all the other nations in the Mediterranean. An equivalent in relatively modern times would be the British Empire. And from Britain have come many young nations. I believe this verse is talking in part about the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, the "young lions."
